Week 5 Training Update
Today marks week 5 of my 8 week half-marathon training plan. I'm happy to report that I've only missed 1 work out in 5 weeks (due to Warren sharing his head cold with me). Yesterday I ran 6.5 miles. Yes, I did. It was on the schedule and I did it. I was nervous since I've never run that far in one session before, but something just clicked and I was able to make it happen. Granted it was a slow 6.5 miles, but who cares?! Yay me :)

Warren's Tear Duct Surgery
Warren came through his tear duct surgery like a little champ. It was kind of a rough day though.... even for us adults. His surgery time was 12:50 PM, and we were instructed to check-in at 11:15 AM. Warren ate his last meal just before 7:00 AM and some apple juice at about 8:30 AM. Then he was cut off. Nothing more to eat or drink prior to anesthesia. The timing worked out well (or so I thought). He got to eat breakfast at his usual time and we would be in pre-op at lunch time, so good to go right? Wrong! The doctor, was more than 2 hours behind schedule. We sat in the lobby waiting and waiting and waiting for 2 hours. Try to keep a hungry 18 month old occupied and content in a hospital waiting room for 2 hours... I dare you! When they finally took us back for pre-op stuff it was after 2:00 PM. When they wheeled Warren off to the OR, it was after 3:00 PM. It was a long, boring day.
Warren's entire surgery only lasted 20 minutes... very anti-climatic after such a long wait. Everything went perfect. He was pretty funny and groggy trying to wake up from anesthesia. And he threw-up when we got home (thank you baby for not doing it in the car), but he was fine. He was pretty hungry when he finally came to and ate lots of banana for dinner. Warren woke up very chipper this morning and you would never know anything ever happened.
After the hospital experience yesterday I am very thankful for such a healthy child. I really feel for the families out there with sick kids that have to spend time in hospitals; God bless you!
