I love My Fitness Pal

In my seemingly endless quest to lose the baby weight, I downloaded a new iphone app, My Fitness Pal.  Yes, it's free.  I've been dedicated and it has been working for me.  My favorite part about the app is when you complete your daily food/exercise log,  it tells you how much you would weigh in 5 weeks if every day was like today.  So encouraging!   I've lost 7lbs so far.

Birthday Boy

Since two sets of Grandparents were in town at the same time, we had an early birthday party for Warren on 9/24.  Two weeks later, on 10/10, Grandpa Matt & Sally came for a visit so we had another birthday party for Warren.  By the time Warren's actual birthday came around on 10/13, we were so partied-out that we just ate cupcakes!

Juice Fountain

My favorite new thing:  The Breville Ikon Multi-Speed Juice Fountain

This is an amazing piece of equipment that works incredibly well.  Warren gets to drink fresh apple juice with no funky chemicals added.  I have been enjoying fresh, delicious juice for a couple weeks and I'm addicted!  This morning's concoction: grapefruit, orange, apple, pear, strawberry, tomato, spinach, carrot, celery.  DELICIOUS!  Can't wait to try some bloody Marys!

Baptism

Warren was baptised on Saturday, Septmeber 24th, during the 5:00 PM mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Boise.  Grandma Mary & Grandpa Doug served as Godparents.

Circus!

We took Warren to the circus.  He was very well behaved and I think he liked it.

Chair

Warren's Grandpa Bill brought him a very special chair.  It was originally made by Warren's Great Grandpa, Walter, and has been passed down throughout the years.  It once belonged to Bill, then Mike, and now Warren.

Road Trip!

The Burkholders are headed to Lake Stevens, WA, for Mike's second half-Ironman triathlon.  We will drive half way and camp overnight.  We will spend two nights in the Lake Stevens/Everett area and one night in Seattle.  We are looking forward to taking Warren to the Seattle aquarium.

A nice little Sunday

Sunday morning we went to breakfast and our waitress gave Warren a balloon (his first).  He loved it!  His shrieks of delight could be heard throughout the dining room.

After breakfast we decided to walk around the zoo for an hour.  Warren made friends with a lion.

After the zoo (and a nap), we cooled off at Lake Lowell.  Warren sat on the shoreline and enjoyed the waves.  He also tried to eat a rock.

How to cut baby's hair yourself

Since babies don't tend to sit still for a haircut, it makes it very difficult to get an even cut.  My hairdresser told me how to cut Warren's hair the easy way:

Make little pony tails around his head and snip off the tip of the tail

This will create layers for you

That's it.  Done.  Worked like a charm!

Independence Day

We took Warren to his first parade.  He loves to people watch, so he had a good time.  None of us were able to stay awake late enough to see fireworks.  Zoe got scared and peed on the carpet... twice... great!

Back & Forth

After traveling to Superior for Uncle Dan's funeral, Warren and I returned home to Boise on Sunday (Father's Day).  Monday evening I received word that my Grandpa Matt had passed away... so, back to Superior we went.  Heart broken.  It's been a rough, devastating two weeks!  Warren got sick at Grandma Mary's house on Thursday night and hasn't quite been himself since.  I took him to his doctor Tuesday morning upon our return to Boise; she thinks it's just a minor virus of some sort.  To top it all off, while I was at the doctor with Warren, the kennel left me a voicemail that Zoe is sick and they had to take her to the vet.  Poor Zoe kept us up most of the night last night as she couldn't even keep water down.  Mike took her to our vet this morning and they kept her for the day and placed her on an IV.  We get to pick her up after work.  I sure hope she is feeling better, if not she has to go back to the vet again in the morning.

Going Home

Due to the passing of Dan, my beloved Uncle/Godfather, Warren and I got to take an unexpected trip to Superior last week.  It was really great to be around so many family members!  Warren even learned to crawl while we were staying at Grandma Mary's house.

Good Eats

My favorite new hobby?  Making baby food.  So simple and a great cost savings.  Plus, I know exactly what is in Warren's food... no weird additives.  Tonight W had squash-sweet potato-chicken for dinner.  Yummy!

Sunday Zoo Day

Since the weather was perfect, we decided to ride our bikes to the zoo.  Warren enjoyed the maiden voyage in his new bicycle trailer (which conveniently converts to a stroller when you reach your destination).  We spent all afternoon wandering Julia Davis Park and Zoo Boise.  The "Butterflies in Bloom" exhibit was delightful.  Warren got a kick out of the many colorful butterflies fluttering all around us.  Although his favorite animals were the (stinky) goats in the petting zoo.
